  • Yoga for Arthritis Workshop

    Saturday 24th February 2018-Rowhedge Village Hall, 1.30 to 4.00pm

This workshop is for you if you live with arthritis, an autoimmune condition or joint injury, regardless of your age. You will learn how to use yoga to help keep your body strong and your joints stable. You’ll be shown how to modify traditional yoga poses for your body. We’ll focus on building body awareness, emphasising what you can do, not what you can’t, knowing your limits, accepting what is (and what isn’t), and on learning the wrong and the right way to move your major joints.

The workshop includes a handout with a full sequence to take home and practice.

We will have a break with refreshments (tea, coffee, herbal teas, biscuits)

We will finish with a deeply relaxing guided meditation. The hall is warm but bring a blanket! You might want to bring a cushion too.

Price is £15 Early bird (booked by 5th February) or £20 if booked later or on the day. Spaces are limited so ensure you book early!

    How do I book?

  • Chairmans Annual Report from AGM 2017

Good Evening Everyone, thank you for coming to our AGM. 2017 has been a good year for EDCA. In addition to our regular hirers, one-off bookings have been very successful with positive feedback from the hirers who seem to be pleased with the venue.

Our committee is made up entirely of volunteers who give hours of their time and expertise to the repair and maintenance of this hall and without whom it simply wold not function. This year we have a new committee member – Dave Evans – who together with David Russell and Frank Ward have designed and implemented a formal contract for our domestic team. His work brings our policies up to date and has provided a template to ensure all parties are aware of their responsibilities and future-proofs admin matters. Thank you gentlemen.

Our finances are managed by John Andrews who has taken over from Roger Gooding as Treasurer. Rogers years of work were acknowledge by the village hall and Parish Council when he received a community award.

Overseeing the day to day management is Yvonne Gibbs who multitasks at a speed you wouldn’t believe and organises just about everything that happens here.

Our year has included some very successful events’. The Christmas Craft Fayre was enjoyed by everyone and this years' is already looking promising with every single pitch now allocated. The Last Night at the Proms was a great occasion with every chair in the building used and standing room only at the back. The hall was beautifully decorated by Yvonne, David, Dave Roger and Alan. It all went well and we received lots of positive feedback from the audience.

The bands carol concert was enjoyed by all. The bands by now legendary hospitality ensured full audience participation.

EDCA has a Christmas lunch and thanks to Loraine and Yvonne who did the catering, we were able to welcome a number of guests to join us including our domestic team Steve and Paula, Phil Foster and of course Pauline Horrigan, who together with late husband Denis has supported this hall for many years indeed.

Our major ongoing project is of course the Under 5s extension. This is a very complex process and our team led by Nick Baker has negotiated several hurdles as we move towards the start. Many hours of research and debate has already been achieved with more to come.

Our recent news is that the BBC are to record “Any Questions” here on December 15th. A small working party has been set up to cope with quit a lot of administration that needs to happen but we are all working towards a happy and enjoyable evening with the chance to showcase Rowhedge and in particular this hall of which we are all so proud.

Thank you anyone and everyone who has supported us in any way all this year, we look forward to an even better year to come.

Susannah Purtell - Chairman of EDCA
